DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE (DP) FLOWMETER

• Most common flowmeter technology and is used to measure volumetric flow rate of most liquids, gases and vapors including steam.
• DP flowmeters have no moving parts and are easy to use.
• They create a non recoverable pressure loss and lose accuracy when fouled.
• Flow measurement accuracy depends on accuracy of the pressure gauge.

PRINCIPLE OF DP

• DP Flowmeter uses the Bernoulli equation which describes the relationship between pressure and velocity of a flow.
• These devices guide the flow into a section with different cross section areas (different pipe diameters) that causes variations in flow velocity and pressure.
• By measuring the changes in pressure, the flow velocity can then be calculated.
